Time does not exist. it is different for each person. Look at the basic problem of longitude. Without clocks there could be no navagation at sea without long calculation that took hours.
End time phophecy stories from around the world from differing religions all say the same thing. Time of change. What this means we do not know as none of them said.
We do know that ice ages come after around 10000 warm years. We know that right before an ice age come a natural global warming. The current levels are 200 times higher than the geological record ever showed before.
Also I lived in farm country during dry weather. All the churches put out a call to pray for rain. When it did rain it washed away the crops. My point is even if nothing happens, people still believe so something like rolling blackouts, lack of food, and water, and other public services seem more likely.
Remember that the light of the stars you see at night is thousands of years old, so were the stars the old ones saw.
