Right now I’m glad I live 600 miles from any ocean beach.
Good luck for those in Texas right now. That’s looking very nasty.

Bucking the trend of forecasting the end of the world due to climate change, Farmers Almanac boldly goes where no one has gone before. Well, not since the global warming craze kicked in. They are forecasting a colder winter this year. Namely, something that looks like this:
Two regions will be warmer, one balanced out, and all [...]

Here’s the problem:
That’s a really big La Nina. It’s shrinking, but not very quickly. It’s persisted for a year and looks like it’s going to be around a little longer. It’s going to mess with our weather one more year.
Here’s the bigger issue. Why do we even have a La Nina to worry about in [...]

A while back Al Gore predicted more, stronger hurricanes because of global warming and won a Nobel Peace prize. Earlier this year an unknown scientist in Russia predicted global cooling would occur leading to the next possible ice age. He didn’t get a Nobel. At this time, China is trying to dig itself out of [...]

The forecast for my home town for Tuesday is high in the mid 60’s with a chance of snow.
Before people get too carried away with global warming and all that stuff, that’s not terribly unusual. The last huge snow we had was almost ten years ago to the day, and was a very warm February [...]

We were warned this would be another unusually active hurricane season. Just like last year. Last year was a dud. So far this year, we’re already into the J’s. We got there this last week with Ivo and Jerry. Now, this is what Ivo has done:
And now, this is what Jerry’s doing:
Ivo topped out as [...]

Well, apparently someone read my blog:
Periodic peaks in the number of visible sunspots may help predict heavy rains and subsequent disease outbreaks in East Africa, according to a controversial new study. Although previously questioned, the sunspot-rainfall link suggests that many of East Africa’s wettest rainy seasons during the 20th century were closely associated with highpoints [...]

I asked a question on August 24, 2005. It was a simple question. It was largely ignored.
How will this affect Katrina and the waves?
Now, when I asked the question, Katrina was barely a named storm. I like keeping an eye on two things this time of the year, hurricanes and solar storms. So, I noticed [...]
First they had an earthquale. Then they had a hurricane, sort of. Now, a tsunami is apparently on its way.
And to think all we really worry about here are tornados.

NOAA announced the formation of our latest tropical storm for 2007. Chantal is packing 40 mile an hour winds and some rain too. Right now it’s somewhere near Nova Scotia heading northeast:
This means:
It BARELY qualified as a tropical storm.
It’s not even close to being a hurricane.
It will be of no threat to anyone.
Basically all three [...]
