I don’t think the irony of these findings is lost on Livescience:
As bears spend more time near cities, they gain weight, get pregnant at a younger age and die young, violent deaths……
The urbanized bears weighed an average of 30 percent more. They gave birth between the ages of 2 and 5 instead of at age [...]

Just got the USGS notice that there was a 7.3 mag earthquake in New Zealand. It wasn’t just two years ago that they had another 7+ boomer there. I would be horribly fearful for the safety of the Kermadecans there, but take a look at where this is:

No one lives there.
Which just makes [...]

This is very cool:
That’s the SpaceX Falcon 1. The first private rocket ever launched into space. It comes right on the heels of the Chinese making their first space walk. A lot was made of the Chinese flight, not a whole lot, yet, of the SpaceX launch. The Chinese walking in space just adds yet [...]

According to NASA, that is the last time we’ll see that happen. Shuttles Endeavour and Atlantis poised and ready to fly at the same time. Atlantis is poised to launch in a few weeks for fix Hubbe. Then, a couple of weeks after it lands, Endeavour will launch. No other two flights will be scheduled [...]

This is pretty cool:
See that little dot in the upper left hand side of the pic? That’s a pic of the first planet outside of our solar system possibly circling a sun something like ours. Now, it’s not quite like Earth. It’s more like a large Jupiter as far as size goes. What it’s made [...]

Much has been made about “faces” on celestial bodies. There’s the face on Mars that led to all kinds of conspiracy theories:
Then of course, there is always the Man in The Moon:
Now, we got the Face on Steins:
As Steins turns to leave, I think a very obvious, sad, face appears.
Very cool.

OK, these campaigns are getting real ugly real fast. Here’s the latest volley:
Well, time to get this straightened out real quick. This isn’t a McCain dirty trick. This is the old fashionest malware ever known. The temptation of sordid sex if all you do is click here. And, being as probably 100,000,000 Americans would love [...]

Depending on who you ask, today may be the last day of your lifeas you know it. Tomorrow, the CERN collider fires up for the first time. Some are contending this will create black holes that will suck all matter on Earth into a void in space.
Myself, I’m not too worried. Besides, they won’t even [...]

Am toying with Google’s Chrome browser. So far, I like it. Nothing real fancy. It does however, lean heavily on Google’s search capabilities to make the default blank page a lot more usable than “You’ve opened a new tab”. So far it hasn’t really helped me any, but I think over time and usage, it [...]
