Next Shuttle launch will be Atlantis on August 8, 27th hopefully!, 28th, September 6th, 8th, 9th?
In the meantime, while we’re waiting out Ernesto, check this out: ( Some of us will have to enable the Microsoft Media Player Core Activex. Don’t fret it, it’s safe. )
September 9, 2006 UPDATE: Atlantis finally launched. It was [...]

Although the forecast for this year’s hurricane activity has been downgraded, what has remained constant from last year is not how many there are, but where they go. The one place everyone is hoping one or more doesn’t go is a path like this:
Unfortunately, that is the path of Tropical Storm Five. I usually don’t [...]

The genitals of polar bears in east Greenland are apparently dwindling in size due to industrial pollutants. Scientists report this shrinkage could, in the worst case scenario, endanger polar bears there and elsewhere by spoiling their love lives and causing their numbers to peter out.
Now…..
Oh, nevermind. I’m not sure I can even make this research [...]

Apparently the replacement for the Shuttle fleet will be called Orion. In usual NASA history style, the secret was leaked by accidentally broadcasting a taped message to the general public. It was supposed to be announced next week.
What it actually is is still anyone’s guess.
But, we do know the rockets will look something like [...]

This is Grigori Perelman. He kinda looks like Forrest Gump to me. What’s even weirder to me is he seems to think like Forrest as well. Here’s the scoop. A fella named Henri Poincaire pondered in 1904 that, get this, a certain condition suffices to ensure that a manifold is homeomorphic to a sphere. Yeah, [...]

Now, don’t tell the Saudis, but this headline is a little misleading. They’re not talking about the stuff you get at Shell, they’re talking about deuterium. And, what’s even worse, apparently this lost deuterium is [...]

My step-daughter is hooked on social networking. She’s young, the world is new, and she meets lots of people. I keep an eye on it for sure. About once a month or so, I have to get rid of the multitude, and by that I mean TONS of spyware and various viruses she gets from [...]

In December 2004, I bitched and whined about the fact yet another fairly large asteroid zipped right by Earth and no one knew anything about it until after it was leaving. Well, apparently SOMEONE was listening ( or had the same common sense idea I had ). Now the International Astronomical Union is setting up [...]

Well, they’ve been debating removing Pluto as a planet. Or so the story went. Now, it seems they’re inclined to make it twelve planets using a new definition:
The asteroid Ceres, which is round, would be recast as a dwarf planet in the new scheme.
Pluto would remain a planet and its moon Charon would be [...]

This is just too cool:
A bed that floats. If it looks like something from 2001: A Space Odyssey, that’s because it is based on my all time most favoritest movie. The only thing I think I’d have an issue with are the 20 foot strings on every corner. That’s not too user friendly for people [...]
