The Ascent of graphics

For those who predate the internet, like me, there was a time when ascii was ALL you had to work with.  There were no pictures.  There were no graphics.  All you had were the keystrokes to work with.  People did amazing things with simple keystrokes.  We all are familiar with emoticons like :) .  Those are just very simple keystroke combinations.  Now, I and others have always maintained that porn has driven the internet to the technological levels we have today.  Case in point, as soon as men figured you could create an image from key strokes such as :) , we immediately got this:

From that very meager beginning, man pushed for real pictures. Then, those pathetic CGA pics ( read 16 colors ), had to be better, so we got VGA. But, where to get those pictures? Man invented the internet. Dial-up was too slow, so man invented broadband. Pictures and movies ate up your hard drive, so man invented massive hard drives. Most men couldn’t put it all together, so man invented USB and Windows XP to make it dirt simple. Man tired of movies, so webcams were invented. On and on it went. It has progressed at a rapid pace for 25 years until we get this:
