A 10-year-old boy who died after hanging himself from a tree is apparently the second Idaho youth killed while playing a choking game.
The Fremont County sheriff’s office said Dalton Eby apparently was playing a game known as the “pass-out game,” trying to cut off the oxygen supply to his brain to achieve a type of “high.”
And,
Six girls at the Nampa school were suspended for a day after school officials reviewed a security camera videotape that showed the seventh graders choking each other in a hallway.
I remember doing a lot of stupid things when I was a kid. But, I survived. We held our breath, that was about the worst of it. I didn’t like suffocating for any reason, so I quickly quit that “game” other than sometimes diving too deep in water.
Parents, it’s time to teach your children with a little more detail that choking for any reason, including choking yourself, is neither fun nor a game. A lot of kids die from asphyxiation each year. I don’t know if there’s a statistic for how many die from intentional asphyxiation ( the choking games ). Darwin’s Law is a powerful force tho. It’s up to those that have survived to make sure the next generation does as well. I’m sure there’s a lot of adults out there that are alive today because their parents told them that they never should choke themselves to death.
