Hot Coffee
I have never been a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series. However, although this is making some headlines, there’s nothing new to it. Mod’s have been around since PC games have. Mod’s are short for modification files. They tell you what they are doing just from the name of the file alone. They are modifying whatever it is you’re applying it to. So, I’m on Rockstar’s side here. They are saying the modification adds the nudity, not unlocks it. When you unlock something in software, you’re applying a "crack". This is not a crack, it’s a mod. If it were a crack, I’d buy the game. Since it’s a mod, I’d just as soon see the mod scenes and skip the game entirely. And lastly, a crack is a set of instructions. To execute a set of instructions takes very little code. Practically none in the programming world. To execute a modification means you have to replace existing code with your own. They can be huge. The Hot Coffee files are over a meg each. They are mods.
