Microsoft Longhorn

Microsoft has been working on the latest update to Windows.  Now, I LOVE XP.  So, it will be a hard sell talking me into committing hundreds of dollars to switch all of the computers I’m responsible for to Longhorn.  So far, the main kicker Microsoft is offering that I have seen is embedded RSS feeds.  [...]

Strain is building on a fault near Memphis, Tennessee that was the site of a magnitude 8.1 earthquake in 1812, [...]

Solar Sail controlled flights?

The Cosmos 1 vehicle was intended to show that a so-called solar sail can make a controlled flight. Solar sails, designed to be propelled by pressure from sunlight, are envisioned as a potential means for achieving interstellar flight, allowing such spacecraft to gradually build up great velocity and cover large distances.

This footage is several small clips of a sharp shooter taking out [...]

Sunset at Gusev

Something not look quite right about this neat little sunset shot?
That’s probably because it’s the sunset as seen from Mars.  Pretty cool, huh?

Opportunity’s Free Again

This
isn’t the most exciting picture Opportunity has taken, but to me, it’s way up
there.  Opportunity had gotten mired in sand and had been stuck in a sand
trap for nearly five weeks.  Of all the perils and very short expected
lifetime of Opportunity, this seemed like it was the end for Opportunity.
I personally was questioning whether it [...]
